Meine Lieben,

Happy knitting ♥

Advent

My dears,

I am proud to announce that my second Schibot Advent Scarf is finally finished! And I am so happy with the finished result, because after all it is not only one of my designs, but I can also see all the colourways of the fairy tale collection, which is only available since 2022. Since some of you might be interested in exactly that, i.e. how the individual colourways look when knitted, I took the effort to list the individual names of the colourways on my Ravelry project page.

Of course, I started knitting the Advent calendar on 1 December last year. And for the first few days it went quite well. But then life happened to intervene. As you know, I'm a working mum, so I don't have that many spare minutes in the day, and knitting has become a real luxury hobby for me. Sure, you can always knit a few rows while the little one is playing, but sitting down for an hour with a coffee and a good podcast or documentary is something I don't do anymore. That's why I no longer finish projects when I've planned them, but when life allows it.

adventAnd that's why the Schibot Advent Scarf project is a true anti-cyclical knit. Because now in May, almost June, I can't do much with the scarf, of course. But instead, I have now finished something in spring that I can really look forward to in the coming colder months. And to be honest, almost all our projects are of an anti-cyclical knitting nature, aren't they? At least that's the case with me. I don't like to knit with cotton or linen. So a lot of "summer tops" just fall by the wayside. And crocheted bikinis are quite nice, but I wouldn't feel comfortable in them and therefore wouldn't wear them. I have no problem knitting a jumper out of thick merino or alpaca wool in June. Or working on a blanket. On the contrary, I actually find it very nice to be able to prepare for winter in this way.

So for me, there is actually no such thing as anti-cyclical knitting. I knit what I want, when I want, and that's how a hobby should be. And that's why I'm now going to dedicate myself to my next project, which really needs to come off the needles. A poncho. And I'm already looking forward to getting it out of the wardrobe in autumn.

Happy knitting ♥

Nadine
