Meine Lieben,

My dears,

It is done, my beautiful lace shawl is finished and I loooooovvvve it!

So grab a cup of coffee, lean back and have fun reading. As today I have to tell you a lot about this shawl and the yarn!

But first, let's start at the beginning. For summer I really wanted to bring a new yarn base into the shop. A lace yarn, of course. Quality is important to me. It is also important to me that the wool is mulesing free. So of course the yarn base has to be from Atelier Zitron. And what a yarn! Merino and silk come together in a fine single lace yarn that creates a wonderful stitch pattern and on top of that is so soft that it is great for shawls with elegant lace patterns, but also for light garments.

Creative as I am, the name of this new yarn was quickly found: MS Lace 600. M stands for the 70% content of Merino extrafine. S stands for the 30% content of mulberry silk. Lace 600 tells you that it is a lace yarn with 600m yardage per 100g.

And because I always have the habit of testing all the yarns before I can offer them to you, I "had" to knit something with this base as soon as possible. During my search, I came across the pattern Fru Stjerna by Ally Asther. Thanks to one of my YouTube viewers, I now know that Fru Stjerna translates as Mrs Star. And stars are the order of the day here. I have rarely seen and knitted such a beautiful lace pattern! You can find the pattern for free on Ravelry. It is available in English and Swedish, but you don't really need to know either language, as the complete pattern is included not only in text form, but also as a diagram. Great for a free pattern!

I did find one small mistake though (in case you want to knit the pattern too). It cost me a few metres of yarn. That's why I'm writing it down here, so you don't make the same mistake: On the second page there is a list of abbreviations. sl1, k2, psso are explained incorrectly here. On the fifth page, where the chart begins, it is written correctly next to the sign A. First you slip a stitch, then you knit two stitches together, and finally you pass the slipped stitch over. This makes a decrease of two stitches. I hope this note helps you.

Wichtig: Hier braucht man wirklich Platz! Das Tuch ist riesig! Einfach perfekt!

Otherwise I can recommend the pattern completely. The circular shawl is knitted in the round. You start with six stitches, which are joined to the round. Already from the sixth round the lace pattern begins, which you can knit according to chart. I would also recommend this, the chart reads easier than the written instructions. The pattern repeats twelve times per round and is actually very easy to follow. After a few rounds you understand the construction and know where to decrease or increase to make the star pattern. At the end you have 672 stitches on your needles. It takes a while to bind them off, but you are so happy to see the shawl in all its glory that at least I pushed myself a bit.

And then this beautiful circular shawl falls into your hands! I had to wash it immediately and block it. But I didn't block it aggressively at all. I just laid my Fru Stjerna on the floor and pulled it into shape. Important: You really need space here! The shawl is huge! Simply perfect! Thanks to the high temperatures, the shawl was quickly dry and ready for a photo shoot. I hope the pictures will make you want to try this pattern. And of course to test the new yarn base!

Also unbedingt rechtzeitig abonnieren!

Alles Liebe,

Nadine

The new lace yarn MS Lace 600 will be in the shop this week. I have already presented the complete collection on YouTube. Inspired by Shakespeare's work Romeo and Juliet, I created a total of five colourways, which together create a wonderful rainbow of rich colours. You could knit all the colours individually, work them together or just combine some of them. The latter was very important to me for the collection, that the colours harmonise perfectly with each other. I will tell you more about the five colourways in the newsletter, which will go out this week. So be sure to subscribe in time! If you're still looking for some inspiration, I've listed a few knitting patterns on my blog in the show notes to YouTube episode 42 that are perfect for the MS Lace 600. I'm sure there's something in there for you!

And now enough chatter! I hope you have fun planning your lace project ♥

All the love,

Nadine
