Wenn Anleitung und Garn füreinander gemacht sind!

Meine Lieben,

In diesem Sinne, happy knitting ♥

ForestlandMy dears,

I can't believe it, but my Forestland is actually finished in less than a month and a half! And I love it! Yarn and pattern are just made for each other! I have rarely been so incredibly happy with a finished project!

I haven't presented this project here on the blog yet, so only my YouTube viewers know that I had this sweater on my needles. And they also know (a big hello! if you're one of them ♥) that I used a very special yarn for it. If you're active on Ravelry, feel free to check out my project page, because you'll see that I've already listed the new yarn base on Ravelry. I know that this is important to many of you and I also like it when I find yarn there that I use for my knitting.

But let's start from the beginning. I had been looking for a nice DK base for quite some time. I wanted to bring something different into the shop, something special. And that's when I came across a yarn from Atelier Zitron (you know, my favourite supplier when it comes to high quality and standards). The composition of the yarn simply appealed to me: 40% Tencel, 30% silk and 30% virgin wool (Merino extrafine). With other words, a combination of pure nature (no plastic!), luxury and cosiness. And with 250m per 100g exactly the yarn weight I had been looking for.

When I held the undyed yarn in my hands, I couldn't wait and had to test dye it immediately. Of course, this was also extremely important for me to know whether the fibres could be dyed well, how the colours behaved, what I had to pay attention to. And what can I say, the results were amazing! The yarn took the colours extremely well and the shine of the wool was simply a feast for the eyes. Now I just had to wait for the test skeins to dry. Because after the test dyeing, of course comes the test knitting!

ForestlandSure, I could have chosen a small project, but I had been stumbling over a certain pattern for a while: Forestland by Jennifer Steingass. On top of it this design also called for exactly this weight of yarn. These were all signs I couldn't dismiss. On 1 April the time had finally come and I was able to start the project.

Forestland is a circular yoke sweater that is knitted from the top down. The yoke itself is decorated with a beautiful leaf motif and since I was in colourwork fever anyway, I had a lot of fun with it. The body is then knitted straight down and that went surprisingly quickly using DK yarn. Then I had to knit the sleeves, and since they are also knitted with decreases, i.e. the number of stitches is reduced every few rounds, they were also finished extremely fast.

And bang, now I have a new sweater. And what a sweater! The design is amazing and with this yarn with its wonderful sheen, the piece also looks really classy! I already know that I will definitely knit another Steingass design and that I will definitely use this yarn base a lot more.

"Nadine! Now finally tell me when this dream yarn will be available!" - I know that many of you are asking yourselves this now :)

The new yarn base will be called TSM DK and will find its way into the shop at the end of this week (planned for Friday). If something comes up and I can't make it, I will definitely announce it in the newsletter. But the plan is Friday and I think it will work out. I will tell you tomorrow in a new YouTube episode and also on Friday here on my blog which colours will be available (I have designed a small but nice collection especially for this base).

I hope I haven't forgotten anything important. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment here (you have to be logged in) or send me an email. I love to talk about yarn and everything that has to do with it :D

In this sense, happy knitting ♥

Nadine
