Message in a Bottle
by Schibot Garne - knitting pattern for a shawl, in German and English.
When I started dyeing sock blanks, I realised that I could create beautiful gradient colourways with them and I knew immediately that I had to design a shawl with them.
So I combined one of my sock blanks with a skein of undyed yarn, grabbed my knitting needles and the result is this asymmetrical shawl: Message in a Bottle.
But even if you simply combine two different colours instead of a gradient yarn, you get a beautiful shawl with the finished dimensions of about 190cm by 40cm (75''x16'') at the deepest point.
This project is very relaxing and perfect for evenings in front of the television and therefore also suitable for beginners. Message in a Bottle is knitted completely in garter stitch. The increases and decreases are simple. Nevertheless, you won't get bored while knitting, as you'll want to keep going to get to the point where you change colour :-)
When you purchase this pattern, you will receive a total of four pdf files (German and English). The long version for beginners is ten DIN A4 pages long and is very detailed. Advanced users may prefer the short version, which is only four pages long.
