Meine Lieben!

Es passiert wirklich nicht oft, dass da eine neue Strickanleitung rauskommt und ich am liebsten alles stehen und liegen lassen würde, um mit dem Projekt zu beginnen. Und jetzt ist es schon das zweite Mal, dass Wool and Pine das geschafft haben. Die Strickdesignerinnen Selena und Abbye wissen einfach genau, was mir gefällt. Vor zwei Jahren war es der Sorrel, über den ich hier auf dem Blog und auch mehrfach auf meinem YouTube Kanal berichtet habe. Und jetzt haben die beiden Damen es wieder mal getan und einen Pulli entworfen, zu dem ich nicht nein sagen kann: Der Sea Glass Sweater!

Dieser Pullover ist das Projekt überhaupt, um den Wollvorrat mal so richtig aufzubrauchen. Jeder noch so kleine Minirest kann hier verstrickt werden. Da sag ich nur, nieder mit dem Stash! Erst dachte ich ja, ich hab bestimmt nicht genug Wollreste dafür. Denn auch wenn man es nicht erwartet, als Handfärberin habe ich einen erschreckend kleinen Stash. Besonders was Garn in DK-Stärke betrifft. Doch das ist gar kein Problem, denn die Designerinnen machen besonders auf Instagram deutlich, dass man für dieses Design nahezu jede Garnstärke verwenden kann. Sockengarn doppelt nehmen, schon hat man DK. Ein bisschen Aran mit rein? Kein Problem.

It's not very often that a new knitting pattern comes out and I want to drop everything to start the project right away. And now it's already the second time that Wool and Pine have made this happen. The knitwear designers Selena and Abbye just know exactly what I like. Two years ago it was the Sorrel, which I talked about here on the blog and also several times on my YouTube channel. And now the two ladies have done it again and designed a jumper that I can't say no to: The Sea Glass Sweater!

This jumper is the project to really use up your stash. Every little scrap of yarn can be used for this sweater. All I can say is, bust that stash! At first I thought I wouldn't have enough scraps for this. Because even if you don't expect it, as a yarn dyer I have a frighteningly small stash. Especially when it comes to DK yarn. But that's not a problem at all, because the designers make it clear, especially on Instagram, that you can use almost any yarn weight for this design. Double the fingering yarn and you have DK. Add a bit of aran? No problem.

Also schaute ich mal, was ich da für Schätze hatte. Und als ich dann mal das Wühlen anfing, fand ich doch tatsächlich unzählige Reste und Einzelstränge, die hier schon so lange rumliegen und darauf warten verarbeitet zu werden. Und es hat tatsächlich geklappt, dass ich dabei ein schöne Farbpalette zusammen stellen konnte. Grün, Petrol, Senf - hach ja, die harmonieren einfach herrlich miteinander!

In der Tat war der Auslöser, dass ich den Sea Glass unbedingt stricken musste, nicht die Tatsache, dass man dabei so gut Wollreste losbekommt. Nein, mir gefiel und gefällt einfach die unglaublich schöne Optik des Strickbilds. Falls ihr auf Instagram seid, gebt einfach mal den Hashtag #seaglasssweater ein. Dann versteht ihr, was ich meine und wollt auch unbedingt loslegen. Jeder Sea Glass Sweater ist einzigartig und jeder unfassbar schön. Weil man nämlich die Wolle machen lässt. Ich sag das ja öfter, vertraut dem Garn und den Farben, die machen das schon!

So I did a bit of stash diving to see what treasures I might have. And when I started digging around, I actually found countless scraps and single skeins that had been lying around here for ages waiting to be used. And it actually worked out that I was able to put together a nice colour palette. Green, petrol, mustard - oh yes, they harmonise wonderfully with each other!

In fact, the reason why I had to knit the Sea Glass was not the fact that it's such a good way to get rid of leftover yarn. No, I simply liked and still like the incredibly beautiful look of the knitted piece. If you are on Instagram, just enter the hashtag #seaglasssweater. Then you'll understand what I mean and be eager to get started too. Each Sea Glass Sweater is unique and each one is incredibly beautiful. Because you let the yarn do the work. I often say, trust the yarn and the colours, they'll do it!

Was ist nun das Geheimnis dieses Pullovers? Warum sieht er nicht nur toll aus, warum macht es auch so unglaublich süchtig, daran zu arbeiten? Wenn ich euch das verrate, dann denkt ihr vielleicht erst einmal, die spinnt. Denn: Der Pullover wird in Colourwork gestickt. Spricht, eine Masche Farbe 1, eine Masche Farbe 2.

Wer mit Fair Isle geübt ist, strickt das genauso schnell wie glatt rechts. Aber auch jeder, der das noch nicht gemacht hat, findet schnell eine Technik, mit der man da flott voran kommt. Das war es aber noch nicht. Man wechselt jede Runde die Farben. Ja, JEDE Runde! Mein erste Frage, als ich das las, war natürlich, wer mir dann alle Fäden vernäht. Aber auch hierfür haben Wool and Pine nicht nur eine, sondern gleich mehrere Lösungen parat, die mit der Anleitung mitkommen. Neben zahlreichen Bildern, wie man Farben miteinander kombinieren könnte, gibt es nämlich auch einen Code mitgeliefert, mit dem man einige Videos und Tutorials bekommt, die allesamt hilfreich und schön anzuschauen sind.

Weit bin ich noch nicht, wie ihr auf den Bildern sehen könnt, aber ich kann schon jetzt sagen, dass die Konstruktion recht simpel ist. Rundpassenpulli von oben nach unten. Anleitung gut und verständlich geschrieben. Anleitung gibt es entweder direkt auf der Wool and Pine Seite oder auch auf Ravelry. Ist nur auf Englisch erhältlich, aber ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass sich das wie beim Sorrel in den kommenden Tagen oder Wochen ändern wird. Denn dieses Teil ist wieder genauso beliebt, wenn nicht sogar noch mehr.

Falls ihr noch lest - ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass ihr bereits in eurem Stash wühlt! - ich verabschiede mich für heute. Ich muss nämlich noch einiges für den Shop vorbereiten und hoffe, dass ich dann noch ein paar ruhige Minuten finde, um noch ein bisschen an meinem Sea Glass zu stricken. So what is the secret of this jumper? Why does it not only look great, why is it so incredibly addictive to work on? If I tell you, you might think I' m crazy at first. Because: The jumper is worked in colourwork. In other words, one stitch colour 1, one stitch colour 2.

If you're familiar with Fair Isle, you'll be able to knit it just as quickly as stockinette. But even those who haven't done it before will quickly find a technique that will get you there in no time. But that's not all. You change colours every round. Yes, EVERY round! My first question when I read this was, of course, who would weave in all the ends for me? But Wool and Pine have not only one, but several solutions for this, too, which come along with the pattern. In addition to numerous pictures of how to combine colours, there is also a code with which you can watch some videos and tutorials, which are all helpful as well as nice to watch.

I haven't got very far yet, as you can see from the pictures, but I can already say that the construction is quite simple. Circular yoke worked top down. The instructions are well written and easy to understand. The pattern is available either directly on the Wool and Pine Seite or on Ravelry. It is only available in English, but I could imagine that this will change like with the Sorrel in the coming days or weeks. Because this piece is just as popular again, if not more so.
